Tamara Davison, Wired, How Palestinians Are Building a Digital Archive That Can’t Be Erased, 6 July 2026

Here’s an excellent article from Tamara Davison in Wired on the significance of digital archiving in preserving Palestinian heritage and history.

The extensive Palestinian Museum Digital Archive أرشيــف المتحــف الفلسطينــي الــرقمــي is well worth visiting online. There’s always something new to look at.

“The open-source archive now contains more than 500,000 digitized photographs, identification papers, diaries, maps, films, and letters, many of which were collected directly from Palestinian families and might otherwise have been lost forever.”

As a subtext, this highlights the significance of digital archiving and the skills associated with it, which should be part of multidisciplinary academic portfolios. They are particularly relevant in aspects of the study of Islam and Muslim societies.

The Museum is on Facebook and Instagram
